Highper

Jacob Oram
I have known Ashley Ross for a number of years and had many different cricketing interactions with him. I have worked very closely with Ash on personal technical issues, I have been a member of cricket teams where he has been head coach, and I have also had dealings with Ash in his role as a technical advisor.
In regards to skill-specific issues, Ash’s expertise is second-to-none. His ideas always carry a strong biomechanical tone, yet it is delivered in a way which makes it easy to interpret. Ash’s technical knowledge is extremely high and he always seems to be able to offer something that will either help your game.
The technical areas Ash has helped me with in the past can be found in both my batting and bowling. Ash was an integral member of the team that helped modify my bowling action into a safer technique after my first back injury in 2005. In 2004, Ash’s ideas enabled me to sort out correct, left-handed hitting ‘zones’, angles and lines – which I firmly believe was a massive step in my batting development.
The things that stand out the most for me in Ash’s team-coaching qualities are his tactical awareness, his training specificity (e.g. scrimmaging, match simulation), his opposition scouting and most importantly of all, his detailed preparation. To me, that is Ash’s biggest plus: he is very, very thorough!
To finish, I think Ash is a very professional coach who always seems to be striving for new or better ways to train/play cricket.
